West Virginia Academy (WVA), Morgantown's premier charter school, is making waves as a leader in innovative education and community impact. With an unwavering commitment to excellence and a dedication to fostering student success, WVA continues to inspire through exciting growth, generous community partnerships, and pioneering initiatives.
Spring Musical Production of Matilda
Our inspiring scholars at West Virginia Academy are putting on a show of "Matilda the Musical" this spring. You won't want to miss Matilda's incredible story of bravery and smarts! Auditions will be held after school on Monday, December 16. We invite anyone from the community (ages 7 to 18) to audition with us. Please sign up for an audition spot here.
Bringing the Community Together: Cultural Connection Night
WVA's culminating event will be held next Friday, December 20, from 4:30 - 7:30 at the Monongalia County Center (270 Mylan Lane). Our scholars have been exploring both historical and contemporary cultures and are eager to showcase their findings through musical performances, food tastings, interactive exhibits, and more. This event welcomes everyone in our community. Join us in celebrating the wonderful diversity of our world.
Serving Our Community: Pet Food Drive
West Virginia Academy is excited to announce our annual Pet Food Drive to benefit our local animal shelter! Our compassionate students and staff are collecting much-needed pet food, treats, and supplies to help care for the furry friends in need. By donating, you’re not only helping to provide essential nourishment but also contributing to the well-being of these animals. Join us in making a difference and showing love to our four-legged friends!
Dual Enrollment & WVU ACCESS Program
One of WVA’s most exciting advancements is its participation in the Dual Enrollment & WVU Access Program. This partnership with West Virginia University offers our students an unparalleled opportunity to earn college credits while still in high school. By combining rigorous academic preparation with real-world experiences, we are giving our students a competitive edge as they prepare for their futures.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
While WVA upholds a policy of mandatory attendance, we also believe that education transcends the traditional classroom. Our curriculum is enriched with extracurricular programs, community projects, and hands-on learning experiences that prepare students to become engaged, informed citizens. Whether through STEM initiatives, art programs, or outdoor exploration, our students are continuously encouraged to think critically and explore their passions. WVA also supports Educational Leave Requests for scholars. This commitment reflects our belief that learning happens not only in the classroom but also in the broader contexts of life’s challenges and opportunities.
A Bright Future Ahead
The growth and progress at West Virginia Academy are a testament to the strength of our community and the dedication of our staff, students, and partners. With continued support from organizations like HOPE GAS, innovative programs and a steadfast commitment to our research-based practices are made possible. WVA is paving the way for a brighter future.
As we move forward, we invite you to join us on this exciting journey. Together, we are not just shaping the leaders of tomorrow but also building a foundation of excellence that will benefit generations to come. For more information visit westvirginiaacademy.org
